Last week at Oval grounds the home side England defeated Australia to retain the Ashes series. In the match first England batted very well to score 332 and in reply Australia managed only a paltry score of 160, even after standing at 73 no loss at one stage.

In the second innings, England made 373/9 declared. Thanks to its tail enders as they continue their good show throughout this series. For England debutant Jonathan Trott scored an excellent century that enabled his team to set 546 runs as a target for the visitors. In the second innings again opening pair put 86 runs for the 1st wicket. Ponting was playing brilliantly before getting run out by agile Flintoff. Mike Hussey toiled hard for his team and scored 121. Andy Flower : Flintoff and Pieterson not needed

Andy Flower the coach of England has said that Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pieterson the two starts for England are not needed and they can win without them. This statement is lie a paradox since we are not exactly sure what the England coach Andy Flower means by this.Andy Flower was quick to clarify that he meant that both the great players are under injury ans so even if thy don't play England win in Lords would help the team to pefrom really well and in the next Test also.

Achilles problem is what has been pestering both the England superb stars.Andy Flower ruled out the speculation that Kevin Pieterson is ruled out of the next Test as the news paper reports suggests.Flower clarified that KP will consult a specialist and only then a final call will be taken about his availablity in the next match.

Andrew Flintoff retires from Test Cricket

Andrew Flintoof retires after Ashes Series
Andrew Flintoff retires from Test Cricket

Andrew Flintoff one of the greatest from the modern day generation announced his retirement from International Cricket.Flintoff his current age is 31 and experts believe that the series of injuries that he had in his cricketing career has hampered his game significantly.I still believe he has some years of cricket left in him.

Freddie has had four ankle injuries and recently there was a surgery done to him. These where the main reasons he could not sustain a long lasting International career.England fans are highly disappointed and it is their right to do so.

Flinroff has some credits to his name.He is one of the most popular characters of the game and he is the best all rounder according to my perspective.Freddie retirement might have been un-expected to many but I would like to add a point that here after there will be a lot of players retiring very quiky even with some very short duration of International Cricket to play the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).

I never mean that Flintoff has done this to play in the IPL, but the T20 format of the game though being short demands lot from the players, and so it would have a telling factor in the players and it would test their stamina especially with the amount of Cricket that players play.

Andrew Flintoff fit and ready for Ashes

Andrew Flintoff

Andrew Flintoff is fit and is raring to go against the Australians in the Ashes. The series is the most prestigious event for both England and Australia.Australia have been the dominating side generally but off late with the heroics of Flintoff and Kevin Pieterson England have also had the upper hand.

Mickey Arthur believes also feels that Flintoff is the real trump card for England and they should use him as a attacking option and give him some short spells so that he can go all out at the Aussies.Ricky Ponting and his men would like to make up in the Ashes for the early exit in the T20 World Cup.This sums it up and we are in for an exciting contest between to evenly matched sides.

Flintoff out of IPL due to injury

Andrew Flintoff suffered from a torn meniscus in his right knee.Surgery revealed that Flintoff has to miss the IPL and also the West Indies tour. This is a big loss for Chennai Superb Kings since they banked mainly on the all rounder.

This is a bog blow for CSK and already they have won only one match out of the 3 matches that they have played. This means that Mr.Cool (Dhoni ) has to find out some solution to marshal his men to win the remaining matches and at least reach the semi-finals
