IPL 6 opening ceremony pics stills

IPL 6 was filled with joy and was typically conducted in Bollywood style. American rappen Pitbull along with SRK , Deepika and Katrina Kaif were the celebrities entertaining the 60,000 crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium. The stadium was jam packed and people were filled with joy, as it was thorough entertainment from SRK and the rest. The Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated with opening ceremony.

This time IPL6 will be quite interesting with all teams trying to compete at highest levels. Chennai would be the strongest contenders , but you never know in this format, which makes this more interesting.Ponting would be eading Mumbai Indians . This would be a challenge for him and KKR captain Gambhir would like to defend the title. You never know what the minnows like Sunrisers could do in this IPL. We have to wait and watch the action.  

Dhoni turned the heat on KKR

Dhoni played a great innings to take CSK first out of trouble and then to make them reach a fighting total. Badrinath played a nice supporting role which helped Dhoni to have the launch pad at the end.Dhoni scored 66 runs of 33 balls at a strike rate of 200.The match was under total control of KKR at the end of 10 th over when CSK were 55/3.


This was the time that Dhoni walked in to join Badrinath and at the final overs he made amendments for the slow start.Badri played is part well and now CSK have won 1 match and gone down in one of the games that they have played.Ganguly was very furious at his bowlers and told in the press conference that poor death bowling was the main reason for their loss against Chennai Superb Kings.

KKR coach is Dev Whatmore

Dev Whatmore has been elected as the new coach for Kolkata Knight Riders. There was huge speculation that would be the next coach after John Buchanan's exit.Dev Whatmore is known for his coaching skills he was the coach for the winning Srilankan team in 1996. Dev Whatmore was also know for his instrumental approach with which Bangladesh upset India in the 2007 World Cup.

SRK the owner of KKR franchise hopes that Dev Whatmore will bring fortunes to his team and thy will come out with a bang this time. Sourav Ganguly might be elected as the captain but no official announcement has been made so far.

IPL 2009 : Statistics

The overall result of IPL to is a success.The beginning was not so good when compared to IPL 2008 when Mucullum smashed the RCB bowling part.This was different we had low scoring games and spinners had a major part to play and the runs scored in the 20 overs was drastically less when compared to last year.

Nevertheless the matches were very interesting and we witnessed some very close encounters and one match between the Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders went to become a tie and we had the first Superb Over.The team which looked totally out of socks was the KKR team,but we cannot write them off.Sice the last year table had Deccan and RCB at the bottom of the table.This year those both where the teams which faced each other in the final and DECCAN CHARGES emerged as winners.

IPL 2 : Points table before semi-finals.Delhi Daredevils top the table

The IPL2 has gone up very well and we have seen some very close matches even this year.The josh is still there for cricket.Only team in this IPL has cemented its dominance so far in this IPL and it is Delhi Daredevils.Sehwag and Gambir have not performed much and still Delhi have topped the table.Still one match to go for each team before semi-finals.Two teams have confirmed their Semis berth.One being the best team so far none other than the Delhi Daredevils and the second team being the Chennai Superb Kings.The main reason for CSK to make it to the semis is mainly because of Mathew Hayden and the cool captaincy of M.S.Dhoni.



The rest of the teams who are in contention for semi-finals are Deccan Charges , Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab.These three teams are in contention while Rajasthan Royals have slipped slightly.The two teams who are out of the tournament are Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.I guess the finals will be between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Superb Kings.They are the two best teams in this IPL so far.We have to wait and see who will be the winner.Since predicting a winner is a very tough job.

Sourav Ganguly seen with Cheerleaders

Sourav Ganguly the ex-captain of Kolkata Knight Riders seen with the cheerleaders.Actually this picture was taken during the selection of the 24 cheerleaders for Kolkata Knight Riders.Ganguly was the person who selected the Cheerleaders.During that time Ganguly had full control over the KKR team.

The teams arrival to South Africa changed the fortunes for Ganguly and the team.He was removed from the captaincy and more over KKR performed horribly and they are already out of the contention for the semi finals with some matches remaining.

IPL : What is Superb Over ?

IPL has changed the rule from bowl out to superb over this time.The first Superb over match was between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. ( KKR vs RR)

1) If the match between to team his a tie then each time gets one over to bat.The team which chased has to bat first.

2) Three players from each teams are allowed to bat.Preferably hitters will do since they have only one over to bat.

3) If they loose the 2 wickets within that one over then that is the score that has to be chased by the next team.If both the team have tie even after that then the team no of sixes and fours are seen in to account.

4) First the sixes are seen.If that is same then the number fours scored by both the team are seen.Which ever team is the highest they are the winners

IPL 2 Match 4: Deccan Chargers vs Kolkata Knight Riders:RESULT Deccan Chargers won by 8 wickets (with 41 balls remaining)

the toss ws won by the Kolkata Knight Riders and they choose to bat.I expected some fire works especially from the new captain Mucullum.But he scored only one run.Another explosive batsman Gayle also did not last long.He went for 10 runs.The most expected man came in Ganguly.He played like a test match.Scored 1 of 12 balls.Thn BJ Hodge played some shots and scored 31 to take the teams score to 101.

In reply Deccan Charges did very well.Only captain Adam Gilcrist missed out.Apart from him Rohit Sharma and Gibbs played well to take Deccan charges to victory by 8 wickets.

SRK says sorry to Gavaskar

The Multiple captain theory by the team coach was the start for all the problems.The problem started with Ganguly and John Buchanan.Then SRK the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders solved the problem by announcing only one captain for this IPL.

Then when Sunil Gavaskar commented on this incident the problem became more worse and SRK back fired at Gavaskar.Now SRK has realized that he has done a mistake and apologized for that to Gavaskar.

Ganguly the sole captain for Kolkata Knight Riders

Dada is back in the driver seat.He has retained his captaincy.SRK announced that Ganguly will remain as the captain for Kolkata Knight Riders.The policy of having rotational skippers is not adopted as of now and so Dada will retain his captaincy.

SRK announced this to the media after a four hour meeting with Ganguly in Mumbai.So the theory of John Buchanan is not taken in to account..Will Dada prove it right.We have to wait and see how Ganguly carries himself and his team.Generally ganguly perform very well under pressure.He is one of the cricketers to have made the BIGGEST COMEBACK in the International career.BENGAL TIGER will have the answers for all his critics.

Ganguly sacked by KKR coach John Buchanan

The latest buzz is that Sourav Ganguly will be no longer the permanent Captain of Kolkata Knight Riders.This time around the SRK owned KKR team r going for "ROTATIONAL CAPTAINS".Ganguly was very upset in hearing this.He hit back and said that he would say we need four coaches then and we will use them in rotational policy.But the decision has been taken and it is now Ganguly is following Dravid.Dravid was sacked from captaincy and it has been given to Kevin Pietersen.

The worst thing was Ganguly and Buchanan where sitting along side in the press conference.Buchanan termed that obviosuly Ganguly must be upset because of this move since he is the King of Kolkata.But Buchanan explained the idea behind this has that they had very good players in the team who are experienced enough to lead the side.We have to wait and see whether this new idea brings any fortunes to KKR in IPL 2.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS to loose a lot of International Players???

Ricky Ponting the Australian Captain has made himself unavailabe for the IPL season II.. Ajantha Mendis is hospitalized after the attack on the Srilankan team by the terrorist in Pakistan... The hard hitting West Indian batsman Chris Gayle is having serious fitness problem.Since no Pakistan player is allowed in IPL they don't have the speed sensation Shoaib Akthar neither do they have Umar Gul.It is also said that the David Hussey from Australia is likely to take his Captain Ricky Ponting 's foot step and make himself unavailable for this IPL 2009..This makes it clear that KKR is in a spot of bother.What can the KKR Captain Sourav Ganguly do to counter the absence of these players.
